Christine Lee Tyler

I am a multidisciplinary artist working in ceramics, digitally-produced collages, and video pieces

that interrogate former and current social structures.

I utilize both functional and nonfunctional architecture. I perceive operative structures as the

pulse of humanity in contrast to neglected, classical remains. I hold a visceral, haunting quality for ruins and perceive them as the skeletons or burial grounds for once was. I deem that within both these fabrications, our past and present existence manifests itself in the forms of labor.

Christine Lee Tyler is a multidisciplinary, New York-based artist working in video, 2-D and 3-D realms. Her practice consists of man-made structures with the natural world to address the disorder, beauty and fluidity of human existence. Working with ceramics, digital art, video and collage she juxtaposes compositions that drive the discourse of tribalism, social hierarchies, past to present societies and the impermanence of existence.

She received her MFA from Brooklyn College in 2019 and BFA from the School of Visual Arts. In 2018-2019, she was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for a permanent installation in Elmhurst, Queens and a performance piece in the Queens Art Museum. She has also been included in several group shows throughout New York.
