GABO

When I was growing up, almost all the children drew, but then all grew up; however, I stayed the same. My art is about happiness, and the best way to see happiness is to think like a child. I think everybody has something to say, but the difficulty lies in finding the right way to say it. Generally, people express themselves through speaking, which is very difficult for me. Instead, I express myself through drawing.

Gabriel Manukyan, also known as Gabo, was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1957. He studied at the Panos Terlemezian Arts College, Yerevan, from 1974-1978. In 1987, Gabo graduated from the Yerevan State Institute of Fine Arts Theatre. Gabo holds the title of Honorable Artist of the Republic of Armenia since 2015.
