Hortensie Glücklich

The Art of Hortensie Glücklich is deeply inspired by her Christian belief. Prayer, contemplation and consolation are predominant motives in her figures. Her work can be perceived as sacred art.

Hortensie Glücklich was born 1925 in Germany. After graduating from high school, she studied with Professor Paul Thesing at the training workshops of fine arts in Darmstadt with a focus on stage architecture.

Later she began to work with clay as a student of the Wiesbaden sculptor and poet Egon Altdorf. She had many of her clay objects cast in bronze.

In 1998 her poetry volume “From somewhere very far and still” was published by Kiefel-Verlag /

Gütersloher Verlagshaus.

Hortensie Glücklich was a member of the Schlangenbad Artists' Association. She has presented her sculptures in numerous exhibitions and has achieved recognition and positive feedback from experts and the press.

She devised paintings as well as clay and bronze objects. Since her death in 2019 her artwork is curated by her son Stefan.
