Statement
Jan Kessel is a Los Angeles born photographer now based in the Pacific Northwest. In her youth she won UNICEF’s Child of the Year International competition. She studied at UCLA and Art Center College of Design. Kessel then embarked on a business and entrepreneurial career, but continued to take photographs, concentrating on the natural landscape. In the last decade she has returned to Fine Art Photography, immersing herself in the natural world in a quest to capture and share the beauty and magic she sees.
Kessel is especially interested in using photography as a component in healing, and her work can be found in medical and non-medical spaces around the world.
Jan has exhibited in the USA, as well as Internationally.

-The 21st Japan International Art Exchange Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum (curated by Julienne Johnson, April 2022)
-The Anacortes Arts Festival Juried Fine Art Show (juried by Greg Robinson, August 2022).
-Participation in a juried Public Art partnership ongoing and on display in 2024, between Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) and King County, WA Metro, where her photos are 4’x9’ murals in public spaces around the Seattle area.
