Jill Rosoff

I love color, I always have. The cheerful spectrum makes me completely happy. So my exploration as an artist is primarily about how colors interact and what makes them come alive. There are fulcrums between opposites where a magic happens. I have always enjoyed combining real imagery with an indulgence of use color and pattern, playing them off one another, finding that point between them where one “wakes up” the other.

There can be such grandeur and simplicity to be found in both natural and man-made forms. I strive to acknowledge the elegance in an object\'s form, the grace of a flower stem, the convolution of a leaf, and the colors that make them so.

Jill Rosoff studied at the University of California, Berkeley, under members of the Bay Area Figurative Art movement, primarily Joan Brown and Elmer Bischoff. She received her Bachelors degree from Berkeley in Painting and Drawing followed by graduate work studying printmaking in Florence, Italy. She has exhibited her work for over 25 years in solo shows, group shows and in alternative spaces.

Rosoff works primarily in watercolors. She does some printmaking too, both etchings and monotypes. Her images feature her signature warm, jewel-toned palette. She takes inspiration from her Southern California surroundings and her travels throughout the world, especially from Europe, the Americas and the South Pacific.

Her work is found in many corporate collections and numerous private collections in the US and Europe, and is experiencing a growing demand for licensed products reproducing her artwork.
