Statement
Is it more than the sum of its parts?
I work in a variety of media and forms such as collage, artist’s books, drawings on silk and the quilt. I look for visual coherence. I seek lines that are worth repeating, that feel experimental and fresh always looking for a rhythm, a good composition. My goal is a harmony of lines and colors that join to make a new ‘whole’. Erasures, fragments and layering come into play as do found images mixed with personal photos.Textures that I create by erasures and peeling are an homage to Rauschenberg's erasing of de Kooning's drawing. I find things are more interesting to me if they are elusive and poetic. Mark making is often part of the construction.
