Artists Statement - Kathleen Thompson
Using fluid acrylic, I work these color-field gestural abstractions to a sense of resolution.
In my explorations and attention to the present, meanings occur as actions arise through the process. What is revealed, through gesture and alteration, becomes a metaphor for the passage of time; shifting internal states, changing perspective, retrieval and integration.
The paintings are evidence of a journey... both internal and external. Material and engagement become the carrier of meaning.
