Artist Statement

My art is what it is.

I have always been an artist in one form or another.

Everything about my art, I feel, should be transformative, and ideally move the viewer consciously and unconsciously.

Through my art I process my understanding the world, as well as creating my own mythology. This is inspired by Carl Jung, Marie Louise von Franz, and Joseph Campbell.

My dreams are an influence.

My experiences in life influence me.

Melora Walters is a graduate of Pratt Institute.

She is an artist who works in a variety of mediums.

She has exhibited her art in New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin. Her work has been used to illustrate

books and their covers, as well as for musicians. Her collectors have asked for commissioned pieces.

Her poems have been published by Finishing Line Press, Writ Large Press, Serpentine Press, DRYLAND Lit, Alternative Field, Levure Littéraire, most recently “the weather” was featured in https:// www.culturaldaily.com/

As an actress Melora is known for her performances in films such as Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Cold Mountain, The Lovers, and Dead Poet’s Society. Recently she has been in Pen15 for Awesomeness TV/ Hulu, and Showtime/Paramount’s American Gigolo.

As a filmmaker she wrote, directed, and produced her first short “The Muse” in 2017. Shortly after that, she was hired to direct “The Lover in the Attic. In 2018 she directed her script “Waterlily Jaguar”. “Drowning” which she wrote and directed premiered at the Rome Film Festival in 2019.
