Michael Lierly
Los Angeles, CA, United States
Statement
My recent paintings are all primarily concerned with memory. Memory comprises both the subject, as I paint almost solely from memory, and the object, the paintings are themselves depictions of personal and cultural memories. Memory is here conceived as a flawed, analogue process whose corruptibility demands creative reconstruction.
