Rachel Becquer

My creative process is about play. It is about seeing the world with the childhood qualities of wonder, awe, and curiosity. It is my hope that my work reflects the type of joy and wonder a child feels when looking at the world.

My work is informed by the space and energy between people, animals, and objects; images and patterns in nature; chaos and motion vs. symmetry; dreams and the collective unconscious; indigenous art, especially African and Tlingit; child-led learning; play = work; the evolution of the human spirit onto a higher plane, and innovation/science.

When a child is drawn to my work, I consider it a success.

Rachel Becquer is a painter residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She lived in Alaska for three years while attending the University of Fairbanks. She obtained a BA in studio arts from the University of Minnesota.

She has worked variously as a racehorse groom, personal chef, home health aide, journalist, and homeschool teacher.

Future goals include opening up a school for special needs children.
