West Hollywood, CA, United States
Statement
I believe the most important quality of painting is capturing the light.Watercolor is my chosen medium because it gives me the ability to show light and shadows using the transparency of this magic medium.I especially enjoy illustrating objects and scenes that are,in real life, very hard and contrary to the softness of watercolor.
Biography
Born in St.Petersburg,Russia.Roman was was accepted into the St.Petersburg School of Art based upon his impressive talents as a novice sculptor. In the 1970's left the Soviet Union, and came to US.It wasn't until many years later and half the worlds distance away that Roman would return to the Art community. One day about 10 years ago,my friend suggested I try taking up my Art again. At first, even the thought of it was unimaginable. But eventually he did try his hand at watercolor, finding those long lost feelings of passion for Art returning, despite a break of nearly 50 years.Roman has won many competitions:his work was published in The Artist's magazine January/February 2011 and Watercolor Artist Magazine February 2011.His work was accepted at American Watercolor Society 151 st.
