Susanne Swanson-Bernard

As an artist and writer, I feel that all we see and do in life is worthy of some form of documentation.

Ultimately I am drawn to the grace of nature, and all other subject matter. I am keenly aware of the simple refinement in the compositions I see. We are always in a state of transition, and all of life is ephemeral. Having captured a fleeting moment, or discovered something very simple, yet unique in my mind s eye reminds me that there is value and worth in everything.

Susanne Swanson-Bernard has had a camera in her hand since the age of 7 yrs old. She was born in Germany and has enjoyed visiting much of Europe, including Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.

Early on Susanne learned that she had the drive to write, paint, and take photos. Ms. Swanson-Bernard knows of the healing power of art, and writing, and she s helped many causes by permitting her art to be auctioned off at various fundraisers.

Susanne has had her own struggles and is the single parent of a wonderful son named Trevor, who is now an emerging writer/filmmaker, and shares Susanne s artistic talents.

Ms. Swanson-Bernard is a true believer in the power of one image, and the power of film. She is an active member of Shoot 4 Change, and donates her images to raise awareness of the Global Landmine Crisis and other causes such as the fight to protect dolphins and other whales, as chronicled in the film - The Cove - a film that moved Susanne to pick up the phone and become a great advocate for Ric O Barry and the dolphins.

As an award winning artist, primarily a photographer, Susanne feels that everything we see and do in life is worthy of some type of documentation. Ms. Swanson-Bernard continues to write poetry, books and freelance articles. She also works in multi-media collage art.

With 3 published children s books on the market, and more to come, this author, photographer, poet and activist keeps busy.

Susanne currently lives in Boise, Idaho.
