Tony Samsudin

In The Fishing Village, Samsudin uses a black and white palette to create an almost cinematic mood. The starkness of light and shadow provide a break from saturated color. He worked with imperfect lines and thick brush strokes to capture one of the many fishing villages in Indonesia.

Artist Tony Samsudin was born in Bali, Indonesia in 1950. He was a self-taught artist who enjoyed painting local scenes and the Balinese culture. He passed in 2017.
